Dawn Foods Foundation Awards Funding for Little Learning Labs

The Piscataway Public Library Foundation thanks the Dawn Foods Foundation for their recent grant to support Little Learning Labs at Piscataway Public Library. Little Learning Labs, which will take place on Saturday mornings at both Library locations, are centered around a story time and exploratory pretend play. Designed by our early childhood education experts, Little Learning Labs aim to make sure every child is ready for their first day of school. Little Learning Labs will ensure that parents have the knowledge and tools they help their children meet early literacy milestones.

Piscataway Public Library Foundation receives grant from Kajima Foundation

We are proud to announce that the Kajima Foundation has awarded funding to support Build It Better programs at the Piscataway Public Library. Build It Better is a one-day competition for high school students that explores STEM fields and entrepreneurship. The competition presents teams of students with the challenge to design, build, and test a product that solves a specific problem, then market it to the consumer. The competition framework provides a modeled environment for participants to gain experience and exposure to real-world conditions, limits, and elements in the product development pipeline.

Better Together

Every day, the Piscataway Public Library is striving to make Piscataway an even better place to live and work, but we can’t do it alone.  By working together, we can accomplish so much more.

That’s why the Piscataway Public Library Foundation is proud to present Better Together, a series of programs designed to help unify community members and community groups to better pursue our common goal of a stronger Piscataway community.

Please join us this coming October to find out what part you can play – and what others are already doing.

STAR Homework Club receives grant from Walmart Foundation

STAR Homework Club  provides structured time for Piscataway students in grades 6-12 to complete homework in the teen spaces at the Piscataway Public Library.

The Walmart Foundation recently awarded a $1,000 grant to the STAR Homework Club through their Community Grant Program.  This grant made it possible for the Library to provide supplies to STAR Homework Club participants, including pens, pencils, markers, paper, graphing calculators, and rulers.  These supplies are provided in addition to the expansive resources offered by the library, including print materials, research databases, and the expertise of our Teen Services Librarians.

The STAR Homework Club also offers opportunities for students in grades 9-12 to earn community service and volunteer hours as STAR Advisors, making the club a truly well-rounded experience for all students.

Burritos for a Cause

On Monday, September 25th, the Piscataway Public Library Foundation hosted a fundraiser at Chipotle Mexican Grill’s South Plainfield location.

Library supporters were encouraged to come in and show the flyer or mention the fundraiser.  For every customer who did so, Chipotle donated 50% of the proceeds of their order to the Piscataway Public Library Foundation.

The event raised $176.70!
